Terms and Conditions of Electrical Services
1. General
1.1 These terms and conditions apply to all electrical work carried out by NG Electrical Services (“the Contractor”) for the Client.
1.2 By accepting a quote, instructing work to commence, or making payment, the Client agrees to these terms.
1.3 Any variations to these terms must be agreed upon in writing.
2. Scope of Work
2.1 Work will be carried out as per the agreed scope detailed in the quotation provided.
2.2 Any additional work requested outside the original scope will be charged accordingly.
2.3 Quotations assume that existing installations meet current regulations. If issues arise requiring additional work, this will be discussed with the Client and quoted separately.
3. Pricing and Payment
3.1 All quotes are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
3.2 A deposit may be required for larger jobs before work commences.
3.3 Payment is due in full upon completion unless otherwise agreed.
3.4 Late payments may incur interest at 5% per month and additional charges for debt recovery.
3.5 All accessories and material used is installer owned until receipt of full payment from the customer.
4. Liability and Damage
4.1 We will take reasonable care when carrying out work, but we are not responsible for incidental damage, including:
• Plaster, paintwork, wallpaper, flooring, ceilings, or tiles.
• Damage caused to existing wiring, accessories, or fittings due to age, wear, or previous poor installation.
• Damage resulting from structural movement or defects in the property.
4.2 The Client is responsible for any remedial work required after installation, such as plastering or decorating.
4.3 We are not liable for any consequential losses, including business downtime, loss of earnings, or property damage beyond our reasonable control.
5. Access, Site Conditions, and Client Responsibilities
5.1 The Client must ensure clear and safe access to the work area at the agreed time.
5.2 If access is restricted or the work area is obstructed, delays may be chargeable.
5.3 The Client must inform us of any known hazards, including asbestos, structural issues, or hidden services (e.g., water, gas, or cables).
5.4 If hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos) are discovered, work will cease immediately until appropriate safety measures are arranged. Additional costs may apply.
5.5 The Client must obtain any necessary permissions, such as landlord or building management approval, before work commences.
6. Electrical Installation and Safety
6.1 All work will comply with current regulations and best practices.
6.2 We are not responsible for pre-existing faults or issues in the Client’s electrical system. If remedial work is required to bring an installation up to standard, this will be charged separately.
6.3 We reserve the right to refuse work that does not comply with safety regulations.
7. Unforeseen Issues and Additional Work
7.1 If unforeseen problems arise (e.g., hidden faults, non-compliant wiring, or structural issues), work may be paused while solutions and costs are discussed.
7.2 Any additional work required will be quoted separately and must be agreed upon before proceeding.
8. Warranty and Guarantees
8.1 We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty on our electrical installations.
8.2 Manufacturer warranties apply to materials supplied by us. We are not responsible for faults in materials supplied by the Client.
8.3 The warranty does not cover:
• Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or modifications by others.
• Damage from power surges, floods, or other external factors.
• Issues caused by pre-existing defects in the Client’s electrical system.
8.4 Any issues covered under warranty must be reported promptly. We will assess and, if applicable, rectify the issue free of charge.
9. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and No-Show Charges
9.1 Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
9.2 Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment may incur a fee of up to 50% of the quoted job price.
9.3 If we arrive at the site and are unable to start work due to lack of access or other reasons outside our control, a call-out fee may still apply.
10. Waste Disposal and Clean-Up
10.1 We will remove and dispose of standard electrical waste unless otherwise agreed.
10.2 Large items (e.g., old consumer units) may incur an additional disposal charge.
10.3 While we will clean up after ourselves, Clients are responsible for any necessary deep cleaning after works are completed.
11. Smart Devices and Third-Party Equipment
11.1 We install and configure smart home devices, but ongoing support or troubleshooting may require an additional service agreement.
11.2 We are not responsible for software updates, manufacturer defects, or compatibility issues with third-party equipment.
12. Dispute Resolution
12.1 If any disputes arise, the Client should contact us in writing to attempt resolution before taking further action.
12.2 If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes will be handled in accordance with UK consumer protection laws.
13. Governing Law
13.1 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
